Enhancing Ventilation with the Innovative Glazed-In Window Vent
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) works by recovering heat from extract air that would normally be expelled to the atmosphere and transfers this heat to fresh air being drawn into the property via a heat exchanger. The Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system then distributes this throughout your property via a network of ducting.
A key part of this process is filtering the air that comes into the system to ensure a healthier environment within the property. Without this filtering process the system would not be able to work to it’s optimal level and the indoor air would not be any cleaner. Our air filters are made of of a fibrous material which removes solid particulates such as dust, pollen, mold, and bacteria. New, clean filters looks like this:
As with any kind of filter it is important that it is checked regularly and replaced when necessary as a filters lifetime is very dependent on the environment. In a rural setting without much outdoor pollution the filter will last longer, the opposite can therefore be said for a heavily polluted environment. Being a manufacturer and installer of MVHR systems, we notice that a lot of the time when customers have issues it is because the filter hasn’t been changed. A clogged filter is unable to properly clean the air and can actually block the airflow of the system, causing the internal fans to work harder which can cause damage:

This is the part of the system that is responsible for cleaning the air – it can’t do it’s job if it looks like this! So, remember to check your filters regularly to ensure you are reaping all the benefits of your MVHR system.
